Feast of Christ the King
Pope Pius XI established the feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ King of the Universe in 1925 with his encyclical letter Quas Primas (“In the first”). This was written in response to the increasing secularism and atheism in society. Quas Primas formally establishes the liturgical Feast of Christ the King and proclaims the overwhelming reign of Christ the King over all nations. As countries and governments come and go Christs reign will endure forever.
