Saint Katharine Drexel was an extraordinary woman who devoted her life to serving the poor and marginalized communities in the United States. Born into a wealthy family in 1858, she used her resources to create change and help those in need. Her parents instilled in her and her sisters that wealth was simply loaned to them and that it should be shared with others. In 1887. she founded St. Catherine Indian School in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

St Katharine Drexel later went on to found the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, a religious order dedicated to serving African American and Native American communities. She was instrumental in establishing over 60 schools and missions, including the first Catholic university for African Americans, Xavier University in New Orleans. She spent her entire life serving others and advocating for social justice. In 2000, she was canonized as a saint by Pope John Paul II, recognizing her remarkable contributions to society.
